Geico, Progressive and AAA have identical business models and occupy the exact same space in the insurance industry. They handle claims the same way and are organized the same way. They are highly centralized and automated. They advertise nationally and compete on price. They make pennies on the dollar but they have huge bases, so they stay profitable. As long as you're getting the exact same coverage, apples to apples, there's no reason not to switch from one to the other based on price.
