When I worked construction with my father he cut a deal with a local Dr. to patch us up when we got injured (handled a lot of sheet metal and occasionally needed stitches.) He was a Korean war medic. I would walk into his office with blood dripping, the receptionist would drop everything and take me directly to a exam room and inform the Dr. who would also drop whatever he was doing to see me... he was almost giddy that he got to work on a real injury.
