Guess I'm lucky. I have a cat. He's a fantastic companion.

His negatives: Like all cats, he throws up about every other day. Fortunately it is often on a hard floor surface (though once in awhile it's on our bed, where he likes to sleep--yuck). He springs forth from the litter box, thereby spreading litter in a 2 foot radius from the container. Why can't they just step out of the thing? He also likes scratching our fabric couches. I'm not buying any more nice fabric furniture; leather, wood, or steel from now on.

But he's the sweetest guy otherwise. Maybe because he acts like a dog. Very friendly. Never bites or scratches. He's great with the kids. Even when they give him too much love, he just gets up and walks away. Ever since his brother stayed out one night and got eaten by a coyote, we've kept him inside. But before that, he would always come home when we called for him. When we walked the dog (or played with the kids on the sidewalk or in the yard) he and his brother would tag along. His brother would even dart back and forth, under our dog's belly. When I would come home from work, he and his brother would miraculously appear from whatever neighbor's bush they had been hiding under/behind, greet me in the driveway/on the sidewalk as I got out of my car, and then proceed to follow me into the house. He sleeps at my feet every night. I will definitely miss him when he's gone.
