That is the way our male dachshund is. No matter what type of food, if you put it where he can get it, he will eat it all as fast as possible. We even had to by one of the feeding bowls that is called a "slow feeder" to keep him from just inhaling his food. The female like to make a production of it. Her nickname (one of many) is the little princess. She will dance around barking and want her mama to hand feed her one piece at a time for several pieces to get her going, like priming a pump. In the evenings I put the food down, and if she does not start eating,. I just put it up on a counter. When she decided eating is better than not, she puts her hard down ant eats. I don't buy into the princess routine.
