Chlorine is a strong oxidizer. Yes, chlorine vapor will rust your stuff. I would not have anything I cared for stored with chlorine.

I stopped in to talk to the tech at our water treatment plant. The stuff in the room where the chlorinator is is all corroded and the concrete floor is eaten away.
