Good call, and as you lever the head back, the other part of the jaw in the back will clamp down on whatever you're prying on.

I'm guessing that part of the handle is missing based on the grove at the top of the handle, and it looks like there may be a hole through the handle. On the left side in the middle facing the thumb, it looks like there may be a hole.
