Switching to high beams involves a metal plate moving out of the way of the light beam.
It took some creative wiring to get the high beam function to work.
You may not have noticed in the second picture but the bottom of the bumper cover is hanging a little low. Someone who shall remain nameless hit a 5 gallon bucket on the freeway(in her defense, it was at night and she didn't see it until it was too late). Here is the beginning of the replacement cover.
