I have two, one inside and the other outside. I looked into electric and the ones that supplied water at the rate (6gpm I think) my gas ones do consumed 160 amps at full operation. Since my outside panel only handles 200A, I decided against it and glad I went with gas. Mine look about like Unclebilly's, and the outside cabinet is only maybe 14 or 18 inches deep and 3 inches around the sides of the unit. If you can go with an outside installation, I'd consider it. The inside unit is in my garage, and as far as I can tell there is little heating going on in the area around it. So your installation in the "closet" shouldn't be a problem for the food in your "pantry" to be.
