My 914 had a button on the outside of the rear bonnet to open, On trips, passengers got to use the rear bonnet for their stuff. I used the front bonnet with under dash lever for my stuff. Got quizzical looks at rest & refuel stops with travelers digging thru luggage at both ends at the same time.

First weekend I had the 914 drove to a family reunion in NE Tennessee. An Uncle by marriage told me he absolutely hated it. He was an Army cook during WWII and hated everything German because of it.
