I use KYB Excel-G struts/shocks for any customer that has a wee bit of extra coin (vs cheaper aftermarket) and wants to keep their car "nice". Solid product.
I went with KYB "loaded" struts on my 2004 RAV-4 last summer. Very pleased. I paid $320 for both with a good discount but from my local FLAPS vs rock auto.
I would not change factory until you can bounce a corner up and down by hand and get the bouncy effect due to internal failure.
