I'd still use a grinder to square up that end - - either bench grinder or a hand grinder clamped down to a bench or drill press as suggested above. The drill press suggestion is pretty good if you have one. The loads are low when grinding, so a drill press should be more than adequate.

I'm guessing that's the bolt. Thinking this through, I assume you will weld another piece to that end, and then you'll have to smooth your weld. The weld will need to be machined round and the bolt accurately spaced then. You might also be able to do that with a file and lots of patience - - or find a guy with a lathe. [emoji4]

yep torch cut. It's almost impossible to find saw cut kits, or let alone receiver pieces anymore. Even the parts kits on auction don't even have receiver bits.

Semi build. Maybe one of these days I'll drop the 30 grand on a registered one. Or just buy that SAW m249 semi that FN offers now.
