I am removing mine soon as it never gets used and is over 25 years old.

If they are big enough to get right in they might be ok but mine was a 5 foot tub and parts of you are either in or out.

Going back to a soaker to keep it simple.

If they have a large amount of water in them, the additional heater can be a good thing to keep the temperature up. If you have a tankless water heater I wouldn't worry about getting the optional heater.

I think that most whirlpool tubs don't really get used as often as the people who bought them thought they would.
