Golly gee I am having fun. I looked in my repair notes for the 911. I replaced the fan motor in 1999 so in the last millennium. It has seen a lot of use, in those 20 years. It has served me well. It had no symptoms, and worked fine, but the brushes are worn down to the nubs, and it was time to replace it. Problem is, it does not want to let go of the fan. I have it soaking in penetrating oil, and I stopped for lunch.
I upgraded the entire system to the Kehul system in 2007, but I did not replace the fan as it was fine. Now the fan is decided to be a challenge. Last time I saw the fan, was when I was replacing the evaporator, and I put the ac box together on my work bench as a unit. Now just the top comes out to keep me from having to evacuate the refrigerant. It is lots more fiddly to do it that way.
I even had to run to Harbor Freight to buy a super long #1 Phillips screw driver to get to one screw. It will be super fun to get it back in.
