To your original question Supe, I've had a very large number of people working for me over the years in varying level of project management and technology delivery. The really good PM's are skewed 60/40 female/male. I've found that they are predisposed to success in this area, my gut feeling is simply due to the approach. When clients get irrational they have an approach that focuses on being calm and placid, defusing a scenario, enough to get things back on track, then hold their feet to the fire before they even realize the match was struck. I've had men working for me that were equally as talented, it does cut across the gender. Men need to be taught how to do this women seem to come to it naturally - all I'm saying,

I love Higgs statement about mechanical intuition, that sums it up perfectly. Had there been more opportunity to develop that intuition, I'd bet they'd have equal competence.
