I usually replace the front pads on my 86 El Camino after 50,000 miles. The last set cost me $14.00 for GM Goodwernch pads. So a $14 brake job every 50K is pretty cheap still. The rear brake shoes go about 200K or more and I have only changed them once and I have 365,000 miles on the Elky.
