A little different scenario but here is what I do when contractors come to my house . I tell them up front that I am NOT going to tell them how to do the job .......... that's why I hired you or are going to hire you . But I also tell them up front I will ask questions as the job/task is being performed . I like to learn and I tell them that . I have yet to get any attitude from anyone . I think it helps with the feeling out process and generally gives me a better end result . I tell them I will lend a hand if needed , otherwise I stay out of their way . This has worked for me for a very long time .
