Paying down or off debts is a good thing. I went without a lot of fun stuff getting rid of debt. Now the only debt is the company airplane. Our company goal is to get it paid for asap. That will go faster if the dang thing would quit having electronic instrumentation issues.

Of course for all the years I had zero debt, the interest rates were just above zero. Now I get a loan, and the rates keep going up. It has to be all because of the airplane note the Fed is raising rates. Our airplane note is tied to prime + 2%.

Same here. I live in a state where it is legal but the employer has federal contacts so its a no no.
