I figured that as it is a short and difficult track, and my ability is limiting the car, I might as well make it easier to drive even if it is much less powerful and worse on paper. I managed to save a lot of weight by putting a 1.6L turbocharged I4.
Also added much more downforce, and made the suspension much less stiff since the Beam.NG gravel bumps seem to be made of super hard rock. The turbo could probably be improved, haven't tinkered much with them.
Suggestion: I think for the next challenge, tires shouldn't count towards the 100 desirability minimum to homologate. I tried to use off-road tires but desirability plummeted in pretty much every category.
I think it makes sense to ignore tires because those can and are meant to be changed depending on the conditions the car is going to be raced in
A rally car that is going to race in gravel is going to use off-road tire compound and reinforcement, but it would change them for tarmac tires for a tarmac race or make it street-worthy for driving between racing stages.
