Good luck on getting rid of the heads. With so many crate engines on the market for so cheap, the market for hard parts is vanishing, machine shops are closing. One of my buddies has a shop that his dad started. He had a back room full of various usable Chevy small blocks and a bunch of rebuildable transmission cores. He could not get any of them sold for more than scrap value. So he took them all to the scrap yard.

When I was looking for what to do with my old 305 after 300,000 miles I priced the machine work for rebuilding the heads, and decking the block. It was going to cost more to rebuild an engine no one cares about than buying a brand new, not rebuilt 350. I dropped in a 350 for $1,700 with two year 24,000 mile guarantee.

Hopefully you can find some folks that still prefer to fix the old stuff.
