i still find the old way using petroleum jelly works best.
get the bumper guards nice and warm then spread the jelly over it with a nice heavy coat let it sit for 5 or 6 hours out in the hot sun. then let it cool back down and wipe the jelly off.
if they are to old and starting to disintegrate then they are to far gone and past help.
