Cool idea until it is actually put into action:

On a gasoline engine, the throttle controls the air flow.
More air, more power.
On diesels, the air is unrestricted and the throttle controls the fuel.
More fuel, more power.
On a high performance diesel engine they pour as much fuel as possible and that often overcomes the amount of air available from the turbo, and the result is a bunch of black smoke usually indicating they went too big on the injectors and need to either back them down, or go bigger on the turbos.
