Personally, I expect my kids to be kids, help around the house, do well in school, and give their best in whatever they choose to do.
I do not expect them to work for money at an early age, except maybe as a summer job if they want to earn some cash when they are 14 or whatever age is allowed legally.
Longevity being as it is right now (people at age 65 have a high chance of living to 85), they have a long time to be an adult.
