Straight driving would be about 11 hours. Best day to do it would be a Sunday to avoid traffic. Traffic is only heavy from Boston to Portland Maine.
You can take route 9 from Bangor to Calais, it is a single lane road. Or take I-95 to Houlton, and it will be divided Hwy to Halifax. Either route takes the same amount of time. Lots to see in Nova Scotia.
