Ah, the banana arms. Other than being pretty labor intensive, you can swap out the car's steel arms with later aluminum ones. Everything fits. There may need to be some minor clearancing of the cone shaped area where the shock absorber goes, as the shock mount on the arm is in a slightly different place? But perhaps I am confusing that with what is needed to go from the earlier short wheel base 911s to the later.
It is a performance enhancement, because there is less mass and less unsprung weight. Not as much of an enhancement as, say, swapping in a 3.2 liter engine.
One suspects that when friends pose questions, it be suggested that they join, pay the enormous initiation fee, and ask directly.
