It is a performance enhancement, because there is less mass and less unsprung weight. Not as much of an enhancement as, say, swapping in a 3.2 liter engine.

One suspects that when friends pose questions, it be suggested that they join, pay the enormous initiation fee, and ask directly.
Mine came stock from the factory equipped as the 1973 RS, that's why the factory labeled my 76 vehicle as a "RS spec" Carrera.
