I had to make all new Bowden cables for my HVAC. I found that a lawn mower throttle cable from Ace hardware is the same thing, has an S-bend just like my HVAC cables do on both ends. I ran new housing just because, and made the housing out of bicycle cable housings. Worked out great. You could source a lawn mower cable, and cut to length maybe?
