Location: Placerville, CA.... You know, the only place on Highway 50 between Sacramento and Lake Tahoe the you find signal lights. Above the fog most of the time and I can see the stars of the Milky Way 8 out of 10 nights. Kinda cool.....

They are very simple and effective plus, they perform very well at higher elevations unlike propane or blended fuels stoves do.
I have polished the brass on it a few times, looks like new for about a month and goes right back to tarnished patina.

I believe Optimus still sells the the same basic design, replacement covers may still be out there too.

I have a case of 1950's tech matching up with 2000's tech- quite to my surprise and joy a .8 liter Jetboil slides right down over the stove with one paper towel as a liner.
I did have to break out my Dremel to allow the jetboil to seat on the SVEA correctly... this stove has always boiled water quickly and now with the Jetboil (no affiliation) its even better.

I like it! I will try to find a sleeve and cup like yours. I already have the jetboil but wasn’t smart enough to put two and two together[emoji849]. When I got mine, it just came in a box without the other stuff so I picked up the cook kit.

The good part is that I have yet to find a wind speed that has prevented the stove to run. That said, I haven’t encountered gail force winds on the tundra.....yet. It all packs down into itself so it is quit compact but not as tidy as your set-up.

I was surprised to see that I can still get these stoves new and parts kits are available. Plenty on eBay too, just haven’t seen to many individual pieces listed.

Cheers
