I met Matt a couple times when he was at USC. Good kid. he was a good baseball player too.
Talk about patience in a career and the ultimate bride's maid:
In college he was back-up to Heisman trophy winners Palmer and Leinart, rarely got in the game except as a receiver and on special teams.
But he was still drafted by the Patriots, as back-up to Doug Flutie and the GOAT.
He carried a clipboard for most of the next three seasons and didn't get a real chance until brady blew out his knee in the first of the season.
Cassel kicked butt that year and won 11 games, but they still did not make the playoffs. Go figure. Some teams get in with 9 wins.
So New England did the smart thing like they always do, and traded the hot commodity.
Matt did good the next two years at KC but ended up bouncing around to at least half a dozen teams. I think he's with Detroit now.
Around here there are several pizza parlors and sports bars that have Monday night football specials.
I know of TWO that now refuse to show a Monday night game if the raiders are playing due to fights and the cops showing up too often.
