One of the chicks I worked with bought a late 60s Caddy because it was so cheap. She was going to school to get her CPA degree. She understood dirt cheap buy in, dirt cheap insurance, and just pump in gas and go. One day she was saying it did not run right anymore. One of the other guys and I went out at lunch time to look for a disconnected hose or bad wire splice. I wondered out loud about the points. We looked and they were eaten up. We ran to the parts store, and for under 5 bucks, replaced the points. Set the gap with a matchbook cover.
We went inside and made it out to be a really expensive problem. We reluctantly showed her the receipt. She said she admitted to being a cheap girl, but not that cheap! She was happy to pay me back and rounded up the changes so I made 4 cents on the deal.
It was a beast of a car. She graduated top of her class and and passed her CPA exam on the first try. The IRS hired her a week later. It still blow my mind that she now carries a gun for her job. She is one of the team that goes into a business to shut it down fro tax fraud.
