Why not send them an email telling them what your really think and see what they come back with?

If they don't honour the free shipping, write back to them telling them you will no loner buy from them and you'll tell your friends in "the bike club" what happened.

I really don't see what the problem is. If they don't value you as a customer then move on to someone that does.
