My family still has a mid-60's big-block Dodge product in the garage. My dad bought that new; my mom has had it ever since. I learned to drive in that car. Original paint, interior, engine, trans, everything - but everything needs to be gone through to make it safe. It won't physically fit in my garage (car is too long) otherwise it would be at my house. I often dream of restoring it, upgrading the brakes, and putting in a modern transmission behind the big block after converting it to TBI. Not a practical car, but would be a nice cruiser.
There is nothing quite like big Detroit iron from that era...

Nothing wrong w doing all of those upgrades and modifications to it but you really don't have to. They drove just fine when they were new and in service, all you need to do is bring the maintenance back to snuff and drive it around.
