Clearly he is able to throw the debris considerably farther than on earth and it almost certainly lofts radically differently resulting in greater disbursement and lack of piling up.
Note the rather large hole this dog has dug on mars and really no berm or other evidence of digging.

According to NASA, the camera or "imager" was five feet tall. The anten-eye was prolly taller than that.
