The housing on the new fan (964 type) will physically fit in the same location (on a 930 type case). The locating pin, housing outer diameter and housing depth are the same. The fan itself is larger (255mm vs 245mm old style). Dont know why the new version would flow less, the blade design appears to be more efficient and the stator mounted behind the fan is vastly improved. Didnt Porsche use the same fan on the late turbo's ?. If there were any heat issues, this is where the problem would really show up. Keep in mind the duel pulley and it's offset will require some thought.
