I've been fortunate- tractors have been cooperating lately.
Yesterday, I was out in the yard attending to a dry creek bed which has become the mississippi delta since the recent rains. In the middle is a sycamore, the roots of which have diverted the stream and turned the yard into a mud bog.
It was 65 degrees and brilliantly sunny. The new spring growth was green and the air fresh. The stream (river) was fresh mountain water runoff. Crisp, cold, and clear. Clean enough do drink.
I got to a point where I was chopping some roots with a long axe, and every time I'd take a swing, the roots would splash the water right back at me, completely drenching me in the process.
Soaking wet, covered in mud and fresh cold spring mountain water, I felt like a kid again. Happiest I've been in quite some time. Very refreshing!
