Phew, having fun today. We had a 1.5 inch rain on Tuesday, and for some weird reason the ground is wet. I knew it was real wet yesterday so I waited until today to mow the yard. Step one is the edging of the 1/4 mile of sidewalk I have at the house.
My oldest piece of equipment is the old 3.5 HP bladed edger. It was purchased in 1979. It almost always starts on the first pull. Today I turned on the gas at the valve, and noticed a wet spot on the ground, and before I even tried to start it, I saw gasoline dripping at a high rate. The POS 40 year old rubber hose was leaking. So I had to cut off a 1/2 inch of hose, and it still had enough hose to fit back on the carb. I may have to spend a dollar and get a new rubber hose. That old edger was built back in the days of quality American made equipment. It has grease zerks on every wheel, on the shaft that has the blade, and in other vital points. I grease it up every spring, and it just keeps running like it should.
The rest of the equipment behaved as designed.
No I need to go get more gas for the lawn equipment. Almost every time I go someone want to buy my gas can. I remember using it grandpa's house as a little kid. I have little doubt it is older than I am. It holds 5 gallons, and just works great. It is not for sale for any sorta reasonable price.
