The weird part (at the time) is my grandfather, dad's dad, almost went ballistic when my brother and I wanted to walk down the street to play some pool with each other because we were bored hanging at the grandparents house. He grandpa was like Tab's mom on steroids and in a full rage. My brother and I quickly knew we were not going, but he ranted for a lot longer. We had never before seen him so mad.

I learned much later in life that my grandpa was a bit of a hooligan and well known for fighting, and drinking in the bars around the stockyards in Oklahoma City. He nickname was Red, because his face would get very red with rage when he was drinking and playing pool, and smoking, and fighting. Doing all the things he was afraid my brother and I would do if we played a game of pool in a pool hall.
Not to mention betting $5,000 on a coin flip. I guess nobody watched the video? I was amazed at Alex's money counting skills. Cindy can count bills that fast, but she was a bank teller when I met her. Alex? Merely one of the world's top pool players. Gambling addicted? This video sure is a clue...
(edit) One of Alex's opponents dubbed him "The killer Pixie"...it fits. As one guy on the pool site I lifted the video from pointed out, poor Alex is a degenerate gambler with only the saving grace of being one of the best pool players on the planet allowing him to get another stake. I have the feeling that if he's able to reach my age, life won't turn out well for him. So...some sadness here.
