I recently bought a very clean 5YO truck with low miles for about 20K. GMC Sierra 1500 with the six speed and 5.3. It is for all intents and purposes a new truck. A friend was so jealous he went out and bought a 1YO Tundra. His wife's secretary's husband got him a stupid good deal on it.

I will most likely have my truck at least 10 years. I am still driving my old Sierra with 250K because I want to use it up, and because it is worth more to me than it is worth on the open market. In my truck searches, I have found that good 4WD trucks don't really show up for less than 15K,unless you can afford to wait, look at a lot of trucks, and watch the ads like a hawk.

There is no way I will ever buy another new truck and pay full price. FWIW, a 1500 will do 99.95% of anything I will ever need a truck for including towing. The 14 and up 5.3 makes 380HP and the pre 14 makes 335 with about 380 foot pounds.

Trucks are the new yuppie thing, and they make manufacturers a lot of profit. Everybody learned from Porsche profit margins. I'm not paying some executive's bonus just because I need a truck. I would have bought the Tundra all day long at the price my buddy paid, and it is a superior truck.
