Here is what the seller/maker of the kit (Kyle) had to say about the short shifter for the 968

Hi Paul,

Well, it could be modified to work on an 968, but it wouldn't be easy,
and also wouldn't do too much. The OEM linkage on the 968 is basically a
short shifter for the 944. So adding our 944 short shifter on a 968
wouldn't actually change the shifting distance at all. Porsche realized
that the shifter moved too far on the 944 and shortened it for the 968.
Just one of the many changes they made.

It would probably make the shifter move easier and smoother and get rid
of a little play in the shifter.

But the parts are different. You would need to drill a hole through the
stainless steel rod where the cone shape hole currently is. Then it
would need to be threaded. Then a custom linkage arm would have to be
made, because the way the 968 linkage arm attaches to the short shifter
is different than the 944. All possible but would take some work.

Thanks,
-Kyle

So it looks like you should just freshen up the shifter internals/linkage on the transmission side of your 968, you should get better response or an tighter feel from doing this and then add the Lindsey short shifter since its can fit your car and you should be good to go!
