careful with Vintage Speakers, as the Surround Foam of the drivers most likely is uber brittle and/or cracked.


The key thing with speakers, it's all personal. sound / tone.


one thing people often overlook is the Efficiency of the speaker.

85 dB at 1 watt at 1 meter. not efficient.

Some Klipsch speakers used to be like 100 or 105 dB 1 watt/1 meter



grins. When people brag about how their speakers can handle 1200 watts of power, and I've done this.......ask them if you can plug their speaker into the 120 VAC wall socket.


WHAT? they'll scream!!!


I shrug.... Well, that's a perfect 60 hertz sine wave generator. 120 VAC .

that's only 10 amps for 1200 watts......... Yes I've let smoke out of wires before.
