At my property in central Texas, there are turkeys. I don't feed them and there are not any other folks living anywhere near by. I find their nest in the field while mowing sometimes and just leave an island of high grass around them until they are all hatched out and gone. They don't seem to be afraid of me so I guess there is no hunting pressure in the surrounding county. I was working on the fence and this one just casually strolled by. I was talking to it like it should somehow understand me but it just ignored me.
