Weren’t cam phasers only an issue on the previous generation of modular V8 motors? I’ve not heard of cam phaser issues on the current engines.
As for direct injection, I’m not sure how you avoid it. At this point pretty much every engine has gone DI. For the Ecoboost I’ve not heard of any intake valve coking issues like some other DI vehicles suffer.
