That is good to know. How about the motor? I thought I heard the early Discoverys were a bit underpowered compared to the later models. What was the first year of the bigger motor? Personally I like the Defender landrover but those are out of the price range and I don't think they are still being imported.
I tried the line about "you will not be happy the first time that you have to fork over $800 at the Land Rover dealer for something that won't break on a Chevy" and that didn't work either. It's difficult to argue that line when the come back is "well you just spent $XXXX rebuilding the motor in the porsche! So you can appreciate what up against here. I've also been informed that the brush guards and roof rack are desired options.
The good news is that we will use it off road. We have about 100 acres of woods and mud in the back yard. Years ago the property was a junk yard. Now all of the cars are gone so I do agree with her that it will be fun to have a 4x4.
