Baz - I have one of those and it helps a lot. Even better if you can get your surrounding neighbors on board to get them too.
Read the instruction and follow them, the idea is to draw the bugs away from you and kill them.
You want to place it away from where you want to enjoy the outside, I have mine a good 50 feet from our patio into the back yard it seems to draw them away nicely.
