in the US, the best place is an auction.. BAT (bring a Trailer) or consign the sale to someone who has the ability to market it correctly.
Thank you racer for the good advice and US perspective. I wish I were there, but light years away and time zones too. We have our auctions here, and nation wide they are the way to go. For instance, I could drive to HAA auction in 20 minutes from my house in Ashiya. They sell 5-6000 cars on site every Saturday. That’s where I’d do it if I could, but momentarily I have to get some extra paperwork for that on title – long story. I guess that is why I’m thinking of other markets other than Japan. To do it here will take much more time – on title to domestically register it or sell it at auction. Otherwise, my title is clear to export. Weird title system they have here.

Last year in October we had a direct hit on a big Typhoon in Kobe/Osaka. The storm surge flooded Rokko Island which is just near us off a bridge. A Ferrari dealership got flooded and so did 53 Ferraris. It was all over the news, so a couple weeks later I went to the dealership. It was empty of cars and personnel, but one guy was out cleaning the debris off the road out front. Turns out he was the manager. I said I was looking for a water damaged Ferrari, so he tells me there are 3 going at HAA today. I went there to find 3 brand new 488s that had been salt watered up to the top of the dash i.e. instrument panel and all at start price of 1 million yen. I got excited thinking I might peg one for 1.5 million, saying whose going to buy these?? I called a few friends who buy at that auction and later in the evening learned that they all sold for 10 million each i.e. 100k. Good f-cking luck I said to myself and everyone. I thought later that Ferrari bought them just to keep them off the market on parts or whatever.

If I can, I’ll post a couple of pix of the water tempting to wash over the wall in front of the house off the estuary from my 3rd story balcony. Maybe a couple of shipping containers that were blown off the island or ships that washed up on our beach, a 5 minute walk from here.
