Quick perusal of SF and nearby Craigslist right now:

'88 Targa, 139K miles $32K
'82 Coupe, 137K miles, $42K
'79 Targa, 200K miles, $29K
'80 Coupe, no miles given, $35K
'84 Targa, 250K miles $25K
'76 Coupe, 94K miles, $34K
'75 Targa, 110K miles, $35K
That's a lot of supply at relatively low prices. Makes it hard to justify paying $50K plus for one. Even if the condition isn't great on these, buy one for $28-30K (those are asking prices after all, not what you will pay), put in $15K and it's as good as the one for $50K on BaT, if not better. And you know for sure what work was done, without having to rely on "seller claims xyz was done in year 20??" and some pictures.
