Bart Starr, gone at 85. I know many have other teams, but the Green Bay Packers of my young days were inspirational. When we moved to California from Wisconsin in 1963, my nine year old self looked to them to get me through the adjustment.
The kids in our new neighborhood gave me a lot of grief (you know, the typical stuff), but it was the Packers lead by Starr who gave me the solace to know that not being a surfer was ok. It was the days of the Rams (Roman Gabriel, just pre fearsome foursome), the Cowboys and the Browns.
His passing hits like my Dad's, kinda reminds us that our youth is in the shadows of the past.
Rest in Peace Bart Starr thank you for the great games that my Dad, brothers and friends enjoyed. God Bless your family.
