My brother and I begged for a go-cart like most boys I suspect. We might have well been asking for Samurai swords. So we build our own, with a 3.5 HP edger motor someone threw away, and and some bolted together angle iron. Steering was a tiller system using a golf bag wheels, and the "clutch" was a pair of vice grips pushing on a fan belt. So we had to drive with one hand on the tiller, and use the other hand to push down on the vice grips to tighten the belt to go. Brakes were too much to figure out, so that was for "someday" We decided to motorize an old bicycle with that same engine was better. It was almost as crude. Dang we had fun.
