The brake rotors vent through the circumference to the center and out towards the wheels, not towards that shield. On a street car that shield prevents a lot of water splashing up onto the rotors and degrading the brakes. I’d leave them on unless it’s a dedicated race car in which case extra cooling is more of a priority and the rear is really the only viable place to duct it too.
