sorry, i was out for a while.
my 924 is a model 331 with the M-471 Sport II option. it basically uses a modofication of the 928 braking system, along with a BEEFY suspension. they are NOT a modification. also, the M471 is NOT just the 944 brakes. a long time ago, i pulled my 924 and 944 next to each other and i took a host of photos of the rear brakes, suspension, etc. there were clear differences between the two.
as far as the handbrake goes, check the little brake shoes inside the rear disc's "drum" section.
