Our neighborhood association is spending some of our homeowners association dues. Like many neighborhoods around here the front entrance of the neighborhood has a brick wall and pillars on each end with flower beds in front to make the place look nice. Two of the pillars on two of the walls are sinking into the ground, so we get to have them jacked up with foundation piers. It has been interesting to see the process.
They screwed posts into the ground using a neat gizmo that uses 900 pound feet of torque to slowly screw it into the ground. The bolt a shelf like thing on the post, and raise it up to level. It kinda looks like work they are doing. I sure prefer to sit in front off my computer and watch physical labor than participate.
